    Question Fender ?'s

Does anyone know if CJ2A flat fenders will fit on a CJ7? I am looking to do this as long as there is not a lot of modifications that need to be done since thc Hobby Shop at Stewart is limited in its body work tools.

what a great question. I'd imagine not because they're so much shorter, but it'd be really cool if they did..

That's what I was thiking, it would be something different. I can't say I've ever seen actual "flat fenders" on a CJ, I think I may give it a shot. Depending on how much differance in length there is.

    Who? Me?

Not really sure, but I can do some measuring today.

I built my own CJ 'flatty's' from a set of old CJ stock fenders. For the flare, I used 1/2" electrical conduit, and some strips of flat steel (14 guage I think)

Upper part is stock fender metal, lower is some strap steel added in:

    Before flare:

    After flare:

    Covered them in Herc-U-Liner:

I have to run to the shop today, I'll take some pics/meausrements of the CJ2A fenders compared to my CJ tub/hood/grill.

    Thumbs up

    Sweet!!!

Those homemade ones look pretty sweet, never noticed them in other pics.

My wife is gonna get tired of this addiction before I even get home to play/work/modify the Jeep.

Not sure either, haven't heard anything from the company.

I looked at my 2A's today, you might be able to graft a 2A fender onto a CJ fender, but using just a 2A fender wouldn't work.

The tub on the 2A comes up at an angle, and the fender attatches to it, where on the CJ, the tub is 'vertical' right at the firewall.

    2A tub w/no fender:

    With fender:

It could be done, but I think it would take a lot more work than just building a set from stock CJ7 fenders.

Thanks HB, I may look into doing it if I can come across a set of fenders, but this gives me a good idea of what I'll be up against if I choose to do it. If not I may go with a similar set up as you have. I just don't like the hack job my CJ has now, definately need to do something to clean it up.
    Thanks again

Your current fenders are a good start for flatties. I took an old, bent and rusty set off an '84 CJ7, and cut the fronts and sides off, leaving just the 'flat' top part and inner fenders. Then added to that.

That way I kept the stock hood catches, inner fenders, and the parts that bolts to the tub and grill.
