Default Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier Build

The Advantage of knowing how to weld..... Cool Stuff, way cheaper....

I started by wanting to make sure I would have a soilid connection between my bumper and frame.

So, first I cut out the rear cross member to gain access to the inside of my frame rails.

Then Built some boxes to fit in the frame rails to act as my brackets.
    2 Brackets.jpg
Welded Nuts inside the brackets to bolt it up.

I used 3"x4" Tube for the bumper which I cut to legth and notched the ends for some quarter pannel protection.

Tacked the bumper to the brackets....

I then used some 2" square tube .188 wall to make the quarter pannel guards.

Removed the bumper and welded it all fully.
    9 Weld Fully.jpg
Beveled the ends of the bumper to improve aproch and depart angles.
    10 bevel ends.jpg
Boxed in the ends of the bumper,

    and test fit

I also wanted to build my hitch reciever into the bumper so I cut and intalled that.

Then I smothed out all the welds and fit the bumper again to fine a good placement for my tire carrier pivit point.

I made the piviot out of a piece of 1'" D.O.M that runs all the way through the bumper and the carrier point is 1-3/4" DOM with some bushings in it. They are tied together with a long 3/4" diameter grade 8 bolt.
