    Default some info on the dana 44

    i plan on putting a dana 44 in the front and rear of my 2003 tj x, im putting in a sye so i know what to get for the rear drive shaft but will i have to get a new driveshaft for the front dana 44 or will my stock one work?

    As far as I know, and could be wrong, the U-joint at the end will be the same size on the yokes either way you go, so it should still work. Did you put a lift on also or just upgrade to 44?

    The yoke on the 44 may be the same or may not...depends on the 44 you throw up there and whether it is a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton unit. Either way, you can even run a bastard u-joint on it if you can't swing the coin to swap the yoke right away.

    if its not the same there is a 1310-1350 comversion joint that napa carries. depending on whether its a HP or LP will also affect your d/s length.

    I had a 3" lift and dana 30 front with the stock d/s. I went to 5.5" and a HP dana 44 and had to have the d/s shortened. Thats also with a auto transmission on a 02 TJ X. Just depends what you got to put in.

    I swapped a low pinion D44 in for a D30, I also had to get the d/s shortened.

    Yep, you're going to need to shorten it. I swapped in a rubi front 44 last year and had to shorten the driveshaft.
