What do you mean it wouldn't register OBDII? Like it wouldn't connect?
Anybody dealt with an issue for an On-Board Diagnostic (OBD aka OPD)? My Jeep has sat for almost a year now. I've taken it to an inspection and it has been running a few times to move it in and out of the garage. The computer would not even register the Jeep OBD. I'm wondering if the Jeep just needs to run for a little while. Any help would be appreciated.

right. I'm not turning the engine over and I have the computer reader. I could remove the check engine light which was on but I cannot erase any other field diagnostic readings. The computer I'm using gives a reading of "Linking Error" after a few minutes.

Try your computer on another vehicle and see if you get the same result. We had a customer car in here that was doing the same thing and the OBDII port under the dash had broken pins inside of it. Look at your OBDII connector really close. Try putting some Dielectric grease on the scanner plug before you connect it to help clean out dirt.
yeah, I'm going to give that a shot. I've cleaned the hell out of the port. got quite a lot of funky corroded crap out. pins all seem to be fine. the Jeep has been setting for almost a year. but neither the scanner, nor the computer at the inspection station would read the computer at all. I'm just praying that the computer is alright.
thanks guys.
The computer shouldn't go bad from sitting. It is possible that the comp. did loose programming from sitting so long. Try driving for a 100 miles or so and re-read the computer. If it did loose the programming this should be enough mileage to reset it. Removing the check engine light will do you no good. If you inspection is like our here in Nv. then their computer will read a fault in the ODBII. I go through this here with a fleet of over used cars where I work. I don't know how many smog tests I have had to redo because my maint. guys didn't check that damn little light.
