    Default My Afternoon

    I get home from Denver, and the 6 and I decide to go do a lil shopping at Wally World. On the way there some guy on the road was nice enough to tell my my passenger rear tire is wabbling. So I go to Crazy Ed's shop to have him look at it. Well he is about to close and refers me to Big O. Big O puts it on a lift checks it out and says that dude is crazy! The only thing we found wrong is that you have a bad axle seal. Glad I found out about the axle seal but not happy that dude scared the hell out of me!

    that sucks. I can't believe someone would say something if it wasn't true, but I guess if running large tires they might have just seen something that made them think. I guess its better to check and find nothing wrong then to assume nothing is wrong and bad things happen.

    BBlew a Seal
    A penguin had to take his car for engine repair.

    The mechanic told the penguin to leave his car with him for about two hours, to find out whats wrong.

    The penguin goes across the street to a grocery store, climbs into a freezer and ate vanilla ice cream.

    When the two hours was up the penguin went back to the garage to find out what happened to his car.

    When the penguin entered the garage, the mechanic looked at him and said, "Looks like you blew a seal."

    The penguin replied, "NO way, thats vanilla ice-cream!"

    Ok so disregard my last! The 6 had a softball game tonight, my son and I waved good by as she drove away. It does wobble! I saw it with my own eyes. Its just a small wobble, I wouldnt call it slight nor would i call it huge. I wonder if I have a broken shaft or something. I couldnt notice anything while driving and I was playing close attention. Hmmm weird. Maybe a bent shaft?

    nothing broke, prolly a bent rim, bent shaft. typically a bent housing just makes tires wear crooked but they still roll straight.

    Im guessing that too. I asked the ZJ guys on JF and they said the same thing. Im gonna try moving it to another location to see if I notice it and I still have my spare so I'll be good just use that as the spare if the rim is the case.

    When mine was wobbling, it was a bent shaft. It's a bit unusual, but it does happen.
    Brakes work best when the wheels are in direct contact with the ground...

    I have a bent flange on my D44 in the CJ. It doesn't take much at the flange, to make the outside of the tire to move (wobble) quite a bit.

    On my CJ, the dial indicator only showed the flange to be out 15 thous, ( 6" diameter) but at the outside of the 33" tire, it was moving 'in/out' by almost 2"

    If you had a blown seal, that guy may have been seeing some gear lube on the tire, making it look a lot worse than it actually is.
