    Cool Lack of a speedo

I actually don't prefer to wear them, but in this case I need one....

I recently took my transfercase off and swaped it out, (It was frozen.) So after i replaced it and put my speedometer sensor back in the correct position (I counted the teeth and match the number in the 6 o'clock position) The Number of teeth is 27 so I matched 26-32(I think) but I'm still not getting it to read. Does anyone have any suggestions I could try?I'm really hoping its not an electrical issue, and I'm getting tired of guessing my speed by paying attention to RPMs and other cars.

    Thanks,

Can't help ya with the speedo problem, but can save ya a ticket

My XJ speedo is way off becuase of the tires, and my CJ one didn't work for years.

I use my handheld Garmin GPS for the speedo U have a bracket in each Jeep on the dash, and bought a 12V power cord for it. Works great.

That would work, but The CHECK ENGINE Light might bring up some questions for the state safety inspection. I Guess I'll have to trace the wires Down and check them, and recheck to speedo-sensor. I'll post my results for future reference. Thanks!

    Thumbs up

Not sure what the final cure was, but I took out the speedo gear in my t-case, cleaned the electrical part with brake cleaner, did the same for the female end and reinserted the gear. It works now!

    Cool!

We don't have vehicle inspections here, so I forget about them.

My Check Engine Light comes and goes on my XJ all the time, I probably wouldn't pass an inspection

(I do keep it in good mechanical condition! I just hate those little electricl gremlins!)
