What swap you think I should Go WITH???

I am wainting to do an engine swap in my 95 wrangler. i have a 2.5 and would love to swap, but i don know if i want to go with a six or eight! what do you guys think? also i would like to stay on the easier side, if i can get it to bolt right up i would. but im just a newby at the jeep stuff. So help me and and tell me what you would do. i want to know everything...

Nothing will bolt right up to the 2.5 tranny, not even the 4.0. If you were able to, the tranny would die quick because it couldn't handle the stress. If you want to do a motor sway, your going to need which ever new motor you want, new tranny, adapters fo the TC or another TC, and the list can go on. This is only a simple answer and I'm not a mechanic.

Well you could do what I am doing after this deployment is droppin in a early 90 4.3 with a 700r4 tranny.

Unless you are talking about buying new...I would look for a Chevy 350 V-8 with transmission and a Dana 300 transfer case...what rear axle do you have? Dana 35 C-clip will not hold up with a V-8, so you may want to look at a Dana 44 or if the donor vehicle has one at least a Chevy 10-bolt, about the same as an OEM Dana 44 or better yet a 14 bolt.

Yes a 4.0L out of a late model YJ, TJ or XJ would also work, and they are great engines, but the for the cost and effort I would go with a V-8

I am doing a 5.2l magnum. check out my build thread in the build section. research,research, RESEARCH. then gather parts. lots to consider. i went w dodge cause its about smoothest. pm me or post questions in my build thread. good luck

All good answers.....another engine you may want to consider is the slant six(dodge...chrysler)tied to standard 4 speed manual tranny....you are not at the mercy of fixed shift points and you could tie it up to dana300 twinstick transfer case....slavage yards are fullof the dodge d100 pick ups.and you can get the slant hopped up to between 300-400 horses....and all the low end torque you can stand!
