USAF Going to Afghanistan for a yeae, Getting a JK when i get back

    Hey All,

Hows it going? I am headed over to Afghanistan for a Year with the Army( i am Air Force) and I plan on getting a 4door JK when I get back. I am wondering if there is a better year(2007-Pres) that you guys would suggest?

    Thanks for all the advice!

any JK sux because they have the 3.8L V6 when you get one you will have a Glorious lack of power going up hill in 6th gear

hmm. i have heard that gearing helps a TON.. and the power curve dino sheets i have seen comparing the 3.8 to the 4.0 are about the same, more leaning towards the 3.8 having more power...

You want the 2010 or 2011 JK.(All the bugs from 07-09 taken care off.
I recomend a superchip #3875. It really unleash the beast. I have lots of HP and Torque.
You can also disable the TPMS for offroad use. And if you go to bigger tires you can calibrate the speedo.
Also you can do different types of tunning with it, Like "87 Tune15 more HP/97 Tune 21 more HP/Towing Tune etc etc.
And on top of that you have room for passengers and cargo at the same time.
I have taken my JK thrue places that a mod jeep was having problems with.
You make the call, Good Luck.

Yep the 3.8 have more torque and HP than the 4.0's

Get an 09 or up. They have better colors. I wish I'd waited for that Deepwater Blue. Oh, well... If you are going to wheel it right away, get a Rubi. The 410 gears help the 3.8 get better torque and gas mileage. I'm getting nearly 19 mpg with mine. Of course, that's on road only. take it off road, and it goes to 5.6. lol

Thank you for your service, and keep your head down.

Good luck in your tour. Play nice with the Army folks. I have a 98 TJ, but I hang with people who have the 4-door (Unlimited) JK. I haven't heard anything negative about them. So, save your pennies and get that JK when you get back!!
