Question How do I get large items shipped overseas?

I have a quick question. I am trying to order a winch from the states to Okinawa Japan. Most winches are too large in the weight department so I am having a hard time due to the restrictions through the USPS to my FPO address. Does anyone know a way around this? I know they have FEDEX over here but I am not sure I want to pay all the duties and taxes to have it shipped using FEDEX for that reason. Quadratec is wanting to charge me over half the cost of the winch just to get it here! Thanks in advance.

Find someone that is moving over there and have them add it to their Household Goods? Maybe sign up to sponsor someone (if the Marines do that) and then get buddy buddy with them. Order the winch to their house before they pack up and just have it get sent over with their stuff?

I never thought about asking someone to bring it over with them. I should see if I can find someone traveling back to the states and have it sent to them and then have them load it as luggage. Even if it costs more for them to have excess luggage, I could give them money which will probably still be cheaper than shipping.

Try ShipitAPO.com, we used it for 10 years to ship items to an APO/FPO. The company will also breakdown items to get them to be within the weight requirements for USPS.
