Jeeps an 05 rubicon with 42rle auto trans
I had the code about 6 months ago, flushed the fluid, changed the filter and everythings been fine until about two weeks ago. After a long drive during our hot weather, it would start missing gears while shifting. Checked the fluid, and it seemed a bit low so I went ahead and did another flush. Everything ran great again until today. Check engine light came on and it starts randomly missing gears..... by missing gears, I mean it feels like it starts to change gears and doesn't quite make it all the way. I get a bit of a shudder, let off the gas and it goes into gear.
I know the P0700 is the generic auto trans code. I'm going to get the actual tcm code checked tomorrow.
My question is this.... who's had this code and what was the cause? I've heard everything from reflashing the tcm to replacing the whole transmission.
Just looking for ideas before they throw out a $3k estimate at me tomorrow.

i rebuilt one of those in an 05 Rubi about 2 years ago. inside that is the weakest trans to ever be put in a jeep.
personally i would get a computer for a standard rubi, the take the trans computer and wiring out and swap in an AW4 from an XJ.

Purchase a 3875 Superchip, and adjust the tranny,also super tune the Jeep.

I can no longer drive a manual or else I would have gone that route. I cringed at the thought of getting an auto and the expenses that come with it.
Now I just need to find a 42rle, or figure out why in the hell it takes over 4 weeks for the dealer to get one.
