So I've had my 08 JK Wrangler for 3 years it's paid off and still fully stock. I don't have a lot of mechanical knowledge, but starting to get into and I want to start customizing my jeep! I'm looking to start small, and looking at the shocks right now, no lift cause I live in hawaii and have no need for a lift besides looks. So what are some good shocks and any other parts to look into? Any help would be appreciated!!!

Armor looks good and when you are in a place to use a lift the heep will be protection ready
Bilstien Shocks would be my recommendation and I agree with Ghost00TJ that even in Hawaii having some skid plates underneath and some rocker guards will help. You didn't mention which JK you have, but they can handle up to a 32" tire without any lift so if it is an X you can go a little bigger than what came on it stock. After that I would look at recovery and safety gear, Hi-Lift Jack, winch, fire extinguisher, shovel, tow strap. If you have a limited slip in the rear I would look at a locker up front or both fornt and back if your budget allows.
best mod you can ever get- a winch. everyone always gets the lift and gas cans and oversized tires first- but which do you think you'd need the most? a winch.

Go for some center armor and expand from there. Look into Savvy and some others for some belly skids and expand out from there. I'm in the process now and it's relatively affordable to do this. Get the protection for the components that will get you off the trail and then worry about the exterior armor. Heck of a lot cheaper to pull a dent than replace a transfer case.
