    USAF How can I carry a Kayak on a TJ LJ

    I dont really want to bolt a large rack to my TJ. I am looking for ideas I always run with my hardtop.

    Thick foam and ratchet-straps


    or fab your own with some rollbar thick foam some straps, just like the surf board holders back in the day....

    Both of these are pricey, but fit the bill. The Yakima one can have other accessories used with it later.
    I have a Kargo Master congo cage that supports 500 lbs and is removable, but the mounting brackets for it become permanent.

    Your standard foam Kayak carriers would be your best bet. You can usually pick up a full kit at your local sporting goods store.

    I just ratchet strapped both of mine to the roll bars. no issues.
