Good luck man. Sorry to hear that the brain of the system is screwed. You won't see me screwing with that, specially since the work will be warrantied and will probably outlast the jeep now.
hey boys, the question on the "linking error" still haunts my dreams. electrical is out of my hands so I ate the bullet and took her into a dealership garage, who I trust. they diagnosed the issue as being only the computer and not wiring harness or anything else. so, I spoke with a solid Jeep buddy and he recommended buying an old computer and installing it myself. said it would save on the programming issue and that the Jeep would, in theory, adjust. problem with that is, in theory. the dealership with guarantee their work and parts. since this is an issue I am going to have to deal with annually, I went with the surgery method rather than the band-aid theory. I feel like less of a man...should I. frustration level rising. manhood in question. thank God I don't own a Liberty. maybe I should trade-in now...

Absolutely nothing wrong with taking your rig to a professional to fix it. I'm sure there are quite a few of us who at one time have "fixed" something only to end up breaking other things in the process.
Atleast this way you know the broken part will pass inspection, and you dont have to worry about wires and shtuff. Me I hate all things electrical. I once installed a car stereo upside down...
Hey, after wrenchin' on more junk than I care to think of, I still take my stuff to the full time wrenchers occasionally.
I will not do exhaust. Sucks the sweat off of a ____________! (fill in the blank) Any confuser problems, err make that computer, off to the "experts" it goes!
Now, anything else, I'm game for!
sweet! man card revalidated for now. and 94GC52, LOL. that made me pee a little. not good to do while in the cubical of death. yes, I am electrically impaired. sucks being an amateur radio operator and not being able to read schematics for your own machines. thanks for the moral support gents!
lmao TexasAirMan.
as a mechanic i hate the electricals of vehicles. i can fumble my way through it, but why give myself the headache when there's others that DO know what they are doing?

I hate dealing with electrons, but I did a complete re-wire of my CJ's harness to include the integration of the computer into the new harness (no instructions for that). Major PITA but didn't want to pay someone for the numerous hours involved to install it right. Of course, the computer in a CJ has about as much computing power as a modern-day calculator does...![]()
