Sounds dumb, but when did you fill your tank last?
So to make along story short I went wheeling on sat the TJ ran great it ran great on the way home and all day sun and mon but this morning on the wayh to post nit started running like crap dieing, stalling, back firing, and no power so I got to post and check everything i could think of all looked good so at lunch it was still the same so I got a code reader and no codes so I reset the ECU and on the way home it ran fine this has me stumped I was wandering if anyone has had this same problem or know what it might be
Thanks

Did you hit any drop mud while you were out there. I've heard of clogged cats causing similar problems.
the gas cap is tight I thought of that also and the cat is already hollowed out
So today it ran great again so now I'm really confused![]()
Could have been something on the mass air flow sensor that caused it to not read correctly and then with you driving it maybe it finally got off the sensor. I don't think I have ever seen a code for a maf sensor problem unless it was electrical so they can be tricky. One way to check for one that has something on it making it read wrong is to unplug it and see if it runs better. That will probably set a code so if you don't have a reader to clear it you might not want to do that. Only other thing that would act like you say would be lack of fuel flow or a vaccum leak. Neither of those would usually clear it self up with help though. Just thought of one other thing that could create a problem, the old pcv valve. It might have gotten stuck open, if it hasn't been changed since new it wouldn't hurt to put in a new one just in case. Hope it keeps running well. Have fun wheeling out there.
I have not yet begun to fight. John Paul Jones
still running good but Im going to replace the pcv vale anyway i looks like it been awhile since it been done
thanks
