Default Stop your Jeep soft top Sag!

So this mod has probably been around, but I really only found one site on how to do it. But anyone with a Lowes can do it. As we all know Jeep tops can drown out pretty much any good radio station when driving on a highway, As well as collect water. So I decided I was going to remedy this. I saw 4wheel parts had a bow that could fix it, but it was $35 and they aren’t selling it anymore. Being cheap, I went to Lowes and bought the following. [Keep in mind I made two of these (One in the front, One in the back)], so if you only want to build 1, Cut the recipe in half. Two 2” cross PVC pipe (PVCP), four 2in to ˝in Bushings (reducers) and two 5’ 1/2PVCP, (however it is cheaper to buy it in 10’ sections, I opted for this because I tie downs so I needed to put them inside the jeep. The First step would be to cut the Cross pipes in half right down the molding line. Before I go Further SAFTEY First! I used a circular saw (However I do not recommend.) and then cut the PVCP to the appropriate lengths. For mine I used 45” for the Front and 44” in the back. Depending on your sag, I would just start out at 46” and work your way down. Then you’ll insert the reducer fittings into the cut in half cross pipes, and then you’ll place the PVCP into the reducer holes and your done! There’s no glue involved so you can take these apart for easy storage for when you take the top off, or you can paint them like I did to match the roll bar.

Sorry the last one is in black and white. I guess I was being artistic lol. But the last two show the sag being taken care of. Total cost for two: $28 (with military discount $26) so that puts the cost at $13 each, which is a lot cheaper than $35 from a retailer. Took about 1hr to build, but that was because I painted them. If you have any questions either PM me or leave a post, Thanks For reading!

nice OEM look once you painted them. I bet the collective minds of MJ can figure out how to get the costs even lower. I'm just glad my top doesn't sag (yet).

I do hate the interstate noise in my jeep. yet another reason to take a back road. Mostly for me it's the tires and the differentials. The cheap gears in my front dif scream the loudest between 60 and 70.

The only thing to make this cheaper is to 1) see what the yard sprinkler guy leaves laying around or 2) take the top off. 70 MPH drives from Lackland would be great.
81 CJ7, 30 over 258, did the Weber thing now I'm going with a Howell injection kit, 2.5 lift, SRS, and the all important M998 instrument panel with Equus gages. Also have a 71 AMC 360 to rebuild when I kill the 258.

My wife would complain "its too cold" I had my doors off when it was dropping down to 60s and she complained. no way around it. now she uses the excuse"I'm pregnant" to get what she wants. I'll never make it anywhere :P

Now that mine has had the baby it's "I don't feel safe with the baby in the jeep..."

    Can't win, man. Can't win.

I'm all about the yard sprinkler option, though.
