Default Super D30 or D44 swap in YJ

About 6 months ago, I replaced the D35 with an aftermarket D44 from G2. It came with gear of choice, ARB locker, and 33 spline Chromoly axle shafts. SO my new question is the front. Iíve heard the argument with the strength of the "Super D30" being close to the strength of a D44. The kit for the Super 30 is around $2300 and a D44 is about $2500+-. My overall goal is to do an engine swap with a 4.3v6 or SB 350 either with an automatic. So when I do the swap my driverain is up to par to handle the extra power and torque. Currently Im running 4.88 on 35''s. What you opinion or experience?

Dana 44. Every thing is the same for both axles except the Dana 44 has a larger carrier witch equals more strength.

this makes absolutely no sense... explain how a LP D44 is stronger by design than a HP D30? you need to understand the design of hypoid gears first.

Don't waste a penny on doing a Super 30. Spare shafts have to be there 30 Splines so spares will run $500. UJoints are the same, and the lame weak D30 Ring gear is the same. This is me speaking from experiance. Of my jeep builds the ONLY upgrade I ever made that I regret 100% was a S30 kit in the TJ I built

4.88s are going to scream with a v8 on 35s.
I just dropped a 5.2l in and the 373 on 35s is great on and off road.
Guess it could be lower but I havnt been in a situation where I couldnt spin all 4tires offroad and 1700rpms at 70-75 on hiway is sweet.
I too am looking at whether to get a beefier front axle or finish polishing the turdy. I have locrite,1ton steering, chromo in and out on drivers side as it sits now but the changing of bolt pattern I will have to dump my beads I just picked up which I really dont wanna do. What bolt pattern is the 44 you put in ack

I was looking at the manual hubs but keeping the 27spline for easy spare replacement.
I am confused at why the toyota guys are running from the cv axles and jeepers are now running to them. I am gonna wait that out for sure. They do make them for the 30 though. RCV I think is the company name.

you can 44 shafts in a D30 with a 30 spline carrier... junkyard parts. after flogging the JP D30 i would stick with swapping in a HP30 with a few bling second hand parts and rock it with less than 37's.
