I'd check the advance at the dizzy, and check for any vacuum leaks on the carb and intake.
I had the same problem when I did it on mine, turned out to be the brand new HEI distributor from 4WDH. It was a piece of junk!
I have done 4 nutter bypasses, and mine was the only one with major problems. I used an MC2100 carb that I rebuilt, and the new dizzy. I went nuts, never thinking a brand new dizzy would be bad.
