    Default Bumper Opinions

After the last few years of having the stock bumpers on my TJ I've been kicking around the idea of switching them out for aftermarket ones. I'm having a bit of a dilemma as I want an actual tow-rated rear bumper, and a matching front that already has mounting holes for my fog lights and license plate. So far I can find fronts that either mount the plate, or the lights, but not one that can do both.

So far I've narrowed it down to either a double tubular front without a hoop by Olympic, or my other choice right now is the rock crawler type by Pavement ends. I don't want anything too beefy as I'm not in a location to do any "real" off-roading.

Does anyone have experience with either manufacturer or products? Does anyone have any suggestions other than the obvious "just drill the holes that are missing"?

Any suggestions and input is welcome!

A buddy of mine is building TJ fronts right now, and he's not to far north of you. (he's near New Ulm, MN) Not sure if he's going to make matching rears or not.

His are 'stubby' bumpers with D-ring tabs, and mount to the stock location.

Here's a pic of one on a TJ. If you want, I can pm you his contact info. 'Pappy' was able to mount his fogs, but he put the plate on the grill for now. (could be on the bumper)

Hey that looks sweet! Do you know if he does different widths? I'm a bit picky. If you could PM his contact info that would be great. Thank you!

He might be able to now, I know he swapped the place that was doing the bending, and I think they have a wider unit for doing the bends.

    pm coming.

He can do just about anything. I have one of his going on the front of the CJ once I get the engine resealed and back in. I was doing some fitting of it yesterday while I had the front end apart and it is a sweet bumper. I also asked about a rear and he's planning on doing them, just wasn't sure when yet. Great guy to work with he had mine done in a week and shipped to me in GA within two. I believe he has a handful of the TJ ones ready to go, 44" wide IIRC mount with factory hardware or Grade 8 which he'll add in, they do come in bare metal, so you need to paint or powder coat, or Linex or whatever it.

Yep, Eddy builds quality bumpers! As a matter of fact, 'Jeeperwilly', the guy who builds the bumpers we're talking about, has a Ground Pounder fab rear bumper on his TJ!!
