    Question 258 MC2100 upgrade

    All the research I've done on this says to use a 1.08 venturi carb, well the a$$clown that I bought on from said it was a 1.08 and it shows up today and turns out to be a 1.21 will it work? what would the issues be? I know that a 1.21 will suck more air than a 1.08 but tha'ts about as much as I know. Any input is much appreciated

    It will also flow more fuel so your Jeep will be more likely to run very rich even with the jets run almost all the way in.

    I have a mc2100 with 1.08 if you want it ill sell it cheap to an mjer. It will need rebuilt though I paid like $12 for a rebuild kit for the one on my amc304 at oriellys .

    Have you tried to contact him about it? If the guy wants to keep good feedback he may do something to correct it.

    It'll work, but run as mentioned above.

    I've heard the 1.21 works good on a 4.7 stroker.

    Not sure what the 1.21 was on, but the 1.08's were designed for the small V8's (302, 304)

    As far as that goes I might as well hang onto it then, since that's what I'll be building once the 258 "gives up" Haven't decided if I wanna do carb or FI but I'm gonna start collecting parts for when the time comes.

    The 1.21 was on the larger V-8s and from what I have been able to find it will probably run rich on the 258.

    Motorcraft venturi size to CFM rating

    venturi = CFM
    .98 = 190
    1.01 = 240
    1.02 = 245
    1.08 = 287
    1.14 = 300
    1.21 = 351
    1.23 = 356
    1.33 = 424

    I run a 1.14, they're a little harder to find, but they're on ebay, search for Autolite carburetors, they're the same thing. IMHO, a 1.21 venturi is going to flood your stock 258.
