    Default Jeep trailer question

Found a used M149 (water buffalo) and wandered if I removed the tank and built a bed, would match up to a Jeep TJ, 4" lift, and 33's...Or will it be to big and heavy? It appears to be somewhat larger than a M416...Any thoughts on this, would be great! Rob

Dejavu! You on ExPo to Rob? I think it would be to big, at least with the stock axle. Don't they have the 2 1/2 ton wheels?

Swap that out, and you should have a beefy trailer.

That would be awfully heavy wouldn't it? Found a cool link - http://www.marcorsyscom.usmc.mil/sit...rTankWater.pdf
Here is a link to the TM - http://www.scribd.com/doc/16386038/T...714P-M149-A1A2

According to the sites, its about 2,800 lbs empty!!!! If you cut off the tank that'd save a lot but who knows how much. Your 2004 TJ can haul about 2,500 right?

In chapter 2 of the TM there is a schematic for just the bare frame - maybe that will give some insight

Im not sure but i think that the frame and everything is a lot bigger (heavier) on the H20 Buff. I know they are pretty heavy to hook up on an MTVR.

I have to go with the flow on this, I would be worried the frame is way to heavy for a TJ. You could be looking at 3500 lbs loaded, towed weight, that harsh...

It would be a bomb-proof trailer for sure, but heavy!!!!
