    Question New Winch

I'm in the market for a new winch and was wondering in your opinion who makes a better, stronger, more reliable winch at a good price. I have a 2008 JK 2 door so I figured an 8000 lb would be a good size. Thanks in advance

That was a pretty recent discussion. there are a hell of a lot of options depending on your price range/line speed/cool factor/weight rating/brand loyalty preferences. I was on the look out for good deals on a Ramsey. Though I probably won't be buying anything soon since I've decided to take my chances on becoming a civilian again.
Keep it slow. I can't afford spare parts.

Jason, there is a good link in the above post, suggest you follow.

That said, I think you are going light on a 8k winch. I would suggest a 9 - 9.5 k winch for Jeeps.

I applaud you for getting a winch, don't care what kind you get as long as you have one.

I got a 10K winch from Harbor Freight for $299. Some guys talk trash about them but in a winch test, conducted by one of the 4x4 magazines, it came in third place. I can only say that it has served me well, and is STILL serving me well.

You could also try looking at 4x4groupbuy.com they have some decent prices , I bought a Smittybilt XRC12 from them , winch plate , and a synthetic winch line from master pull through them - All under $1,000 after taxes, and S&H . A 12,000lb winch , 13,000lb synthetic winch line maybe over kill but I could pass up the deal .
