    Default AMC 20 Disc Brakes??

I have a 85 CJ7 with an AMC 20 w/ one piece rear end, 4:56 gears, Detroit Lockers, and 35'' BFGs. As everyone knows the braking power for CJs is less than ideal, so what do you do? I'm not to interested in swapping axels, because as i said i have already changed to one piece rear end, 4:56 gears, Detroit Lockers. I work in a machine shop ( fabrication is my expertise ).

So my question is Does anyone have any suggestions on converting to rear disc brakes without spending $1500. I'm looking for roaders and calipers that will swap over. I also want to know if anyone can give me some info on what kind of brackets i would need to make to mount the calipers too.

I used to have the bracket diagram and demensions, have to see if I can find it.

IIRC, guys were using the rotors from the front of Sammi's or Geo Trackers, and calipers from Datsun 28o's.

The Datsun caliper has an E-brake feature, so was sought after, but are like $80+ per caliper, if you can find them at all.

Maybe you can figure out how to post that pdf I sent ya? Might have to print it, scan it, than post as an attatchment/picture?

It should print out to scale, so you can use it as a template.

The info on pirate4x4 is perfect. Got started today on the bracket, and I hope to make it to an auto parts store this weekend. Once i get the price for the parts and availibilty i'll get started on the project. I will be sure to keep everyone up to date on the conversion, and hopefully it will be helpfull for anyone else thinking of doing the upgrade.

    More to come.
