My next jeep
Tonight we went to the Mud Bog Drag Races at the Expo Center in Belton, Texas. The first 3/4 of the event was motorcross racing which was kind of cool, but the last little bit was the drag racing. The mud pit was about 3.5 feet deep, but the majority of the vehicles seemed to drive right over the top of the mud. Only some of the vehicles seemed to drive through the mud and it showed in their finishing times.
Here is a video of the jeep that was entered in the event. When I first saw the mud pit I thought to myself "I could do that", but then when the jeep took off I realized it was a hell of a lot more powerful than mine. I think the announcer said that the engine was 400 cubic inches.

we have mud runs here and there's jeeps that skim on the top like that. how long was the pit? our record is 3.2 seconds from a dead stop to the other side of a 150' pit there bad a$$

That's a requirment of a lot of mud drags. The exhuast has to either go striaght up, or straight out the back. Other wise it can (will) blow mud chunks/etc into the crowd.
Yeah, those guys have more into thier engines than I have into my house! Well, not quite, but close. Basically a drag strip motor.
It's amazing they skim across the top, and the mud can be 3-4 feet deep.
