    Default "Special Edition" Jeeps

I have the 2005 Willys edition. What makes it special is a cool paint job and camo seats. I've seen the Tomb Raider edition, Call of Duty edition, and the Golden Eagle, etc- all modded up. Furthermore, I think an old Rengade is more "special" than any of the Heeps I just listed.

My question is, to continue modding or not. I have a small lift running 33's, and a swing out jerry can tire carrier. It's plenty capable with what it has now, but some time down the line I'll want to start throwing more money down, and I'm thinking it should be on something that I wouldn't think twice about rolling.

Personal preference. What are your long terms plans? Sell the Willy's edition as a SE collectible? If so, then it should probably be in original condition with all paperwork, low miles and all accesories, decals, etc. that came on and with it. If you plan on keeping it for a long time but just want it to always be a Willy's edition then just continue with that theme as you build. Replace the decals when they get torn up, recover the seats with camouflage if/when the seats need/get replaced. It can always be a Willy's, even if heavily modded.

Unless you can afford to park it indoors, and only take it out on every third sunny Sunday in August, it's not worth hanging onto it as a SE.

It's already being wheeled, already modified, and at least 20 years fom being a valuable collector, and then only in original trim and with low miles, no rust, dents, etc.

It's a TJ, build it and wheel it.

Personal opinion, it's perfect with a small lift and 33's, and (as you stated) plenty capable.

If you want something for hardcore trails, build a buggy, or get a YJ and build it up and wheel the snot out of it!

I kept the original wheels for that reason, but not the suspension to return it to stock. I've also damaged it a little here and there. I don't think there is a huge market for a semi-collectible TJ. I want to keep it regardless. I think I'll just keep up with the decals and keep it military. Besides, everyone mods the hell out of the REAL Willys' anyways.

On the Willys, I would probably mildly mod it up. On the Tomb Raider and Black Ops, I would probably leave them alone for the most part. They are modded and wicked off the Jump. I think the TR version is worth big $$$$ today. I would like to have a bone stock original Golden Eagle, holy smokes that thing is awesome.

Of course I feel the same about most vintage vehicles. I think it is awesome to see a '57 Chevy Bel-Air completely stock. Hurts me to the bone to see it choptopped and an engine sticking out of the hood even though it looks pretty cool. My retirement project will be a vintage Willys brought to full military specs or even a Ford Mutt. Those are the Jeeps I originally fell in love with.

Touche, sire. Touche. I think I'm going to keep modding it bit by bit and just try to keep it as 'military' looking as possible. Besides, all that I have left to do is axle swaps, really.
