    Thumbs up Smittybilt G.E.A.R

So first off, don't judge this product because it Says "Smittybilt" I friggin love this product. I'm an intel wienie so anytime i can get something that at least looks "tactical" I want it. especially when it can be utilized in my jeep. at the time 4 wheel parts had a deal, "buy the overhead console, get the rear tailgate cover free." I jumped for it,mostly cause I liked the fact it came with MOLLE bags, and I can use them on my camelback-pack. the overhead came with 6 bags. 1 Flashlight, 1 sunglasses,2 "electronic pouches" and one map bag, that comes with a waterproof map protector. The Rear came with a buttpack, and a utility bag.

At first I was afraid smittbilt was gonna provide a "s*itty" product for the overhead console. Its actually well built. you could even bolt a CB up there if you wanted. here it is:

the overhead console w/o the MOLLE system, The second is how it attaches to the roll bar, notice how the ratchet clamps have sleeves to conceal their purpose the front peace (on my early model Tj) mounts to the windshield frame around the hook. If you are interested on later TJs let me know, Ill dig out the instructions.:

    Here is the installed product.

Here is the Tailgate cover, Its attached via screws.

For those nay-sayers out there, yeah I know who you are, saying "Oh prime target for theft". These MOLLE Things dont come off in Theft Time, They are well woven so they wont tear. Another Nay-sayer maybe , "This seems impractical to get items out of the pouches easily." Well don't drive and try to empty the pouches Duh. Stuff you use daily shouldn't be kept up here, only special circumstance stuff

FYI, my tan Smittybilt G.E.A.R. Seat Covers turned pink after too much time with the top off in the summer. I am not sure how bad the Black Smittybilt G.E.A.R. will fade, but I would watch for it. I contacted the company and told them about how they fade so easily and they could have cared less. I love the storage, but I don't think I would buy anymore smittybilt GEAR stuff until I can find a way to protect it from fading or until they change their fabric to keep it from fading.

Oh snap! i'm definitely gonna keep that in mind and apply sunscreen or something. If I find an "anti fader" I'll let you know. I figure worst comes to worst, I can just use fabric dye, and hope for the best

303 Aerospace Protectant will probably work for sun protection on the Smittybilt G.E.A.R. It works on just about everything else.

My ACU pouches also turned pink over the summer! I just replaced them with real military issue.

Nice! I considered the ACU ones but then I remembered how much I hate ACU Pattern. Multicam would be nice. In the end I am going to get just the tailgate in black or tan. Like said above, I couldn't use half the pockets I don't think, I will use it for daily tools and Jumper cables n' what not.
