    Default oil pressure

    Just curious on some things that would cause my oil pressure to fluctuate between 40 and 60? I ask this because my check engine light came on on the way home from work today. I looked down at the dash and the pressure was very close to 60. I just changed the oil last week and the filter. Can going from a synthetic oil to a regular oil cause problems? Went from Royal Purple full synthetic to Lucas Oil. I use a K&N oil filter. Thx in advance for the help.

    4.0? Saw it many times when I ran a quick lube back home, barely bumping the sending unit while changing the filter will make it do that/or read 0 pressure. Check the sending unit for cracks around where the metal part forms around the plastic housing, if cracked replace.

    Yes, its the 4.0. Thx for the info guys. I'll have to check that in the morning. Does anyone know if going from a synthetic to regular oil is bad? I have used synthetic for about a year and a half and put regular oil in last week.

    ive read on a few studies that the synthetic minerals and formulations to make up the ZDDP (zinc for us retards) is different and can cause issues with flat tappet motors (What we have if its a 4.0/2.5) i would recommend staying with synthetics if you ran it once. if you read into synthetics like amsoil they recommend not going back to dino oil if you run it. the chemical compounds are different and flush the motors differently.
