    Default Whadya think?

With people all around me doing some BA things to their Jeeps I was thinking of following suit. I keep toying around with the idea of swapping in a V8 into the ZJ instead of my 4.slow. There are ppl who do it but not too many threads. Think it would be fun and I would enjoy more power. This sounds good in theory but the unfortunate fact is I would rely heavily on friends for tools, extra hands, and space (maybe but honestly most likely), and most importantly experience and knowledge. I figured I would find a wrecked doner 5.2 318 ZJ with lower miles buy it whole and use it for everything I would need then part and scrap it. What do you guys think especially the Springs guys.

ZJ are relatively cheap these days, how about finding one that runs and make that your trail rig and use a de-built, 4.0L ZJ as your daily driver...same time effort, I think, and you have two Jeeps instead of one.

SGM O has a good point. If you are going to swap in another engine that is a factory option, it would make more sense to start with a rig that already has that option.

I think about that every day actually. I just though it would be a fun "project". It will most likely never happen just playing with ideas.

I think it would be kick ass! I am in the same boat - lots of want but not much in the way of where to start or how to do it. I would love to get some more horses under the hood. I have been looking hard at a supercharger that will save weight and unleash some power.

I say study up.... put it on paper and live the dream.

Dude I had the ZJ with a 318 and that thing was freakin fun. U know I would help with tools and garage space and what not. They do have a good point that it may be cheaper and easier to buy a zj and move your stuff over to it. The 318 is almost as infamous as the 4.0. It known to last FOREVER! i seriously did some ungodly tings to that 318 i had and somehow it still ran awesome. I am talking several cross country trips, drag racing it, mudding the hell out of it, i sucked a shit ton of water through it, and it had like 160k miles and still ran like a champ. I know you were talking about the 360 but I dont think there is enough gain to make up for the cost.
