Sounds like an easy linkage adjustment under your rig. Does it have a body lift? It sounds like the lever just isn't pushing the linkage far enough to actually engage in 4 lo. Check it out, it isn't hard to do!
so the yeep don't like 4 lo. 2 hi and 4 hi work great, but it's like pulling teeth (literally, ha) trying to get that sucker in 4 lo and keep it there. For a while I was able to hold it in (keep it from popping out) but now that doesn't even work.I wonder if the previous owner ground the teeth down before which is why it catches slightly, but pops with a bit of torque. Any thoughts?

thanks, I'll check it out tomorrow. Yeah it's got a 3". Before you all scoff, that's the way I got it. I'm just having fun with the way it sits now before I do it right. Could that also cause 1st to pop out every once in a while when I engine brake?

Had the same problem. Needed the linkage adjusted. After that was done, I was still able to get stuck just as good as before.
Sometimes when there is a 3" body lift involved, you won't have enough adjustment left in your t-case linkage. There is an spacer bracket that is available if you can't get your linkage to adjust enough.
With that kind of body lift, you probably have also noticed some difficulty shifting into 2nd, 4th and reverse, especially if your severly flexed. Some people trim their floorpan and some just live with it.
I'm going to try adjust it today. I don't plan on keeping the body lift, so I'm not going to trim anything. If it can't be adjusted, then I'll just make sure bigdog is always around to pull me out until I get a new lift.![]()
