Exclamation NEED HELP in NJ! YJ Tranny Trouble..need a shop to take it to

Hey Folks, I need some assistance.

I am headed back to Ft. Dix, NJ in my YJ and am having transmission trouble.

I can make it to Dix (at least I believe I can) but I must have it looked at somewhere around there.

I have the stock AX-15 and NP231. I am getting a "jingling" noise when coasting and under light load in the lower gears coming from down below. It is also "clunking" some during shifts. Sort of like when you let off the clutch a little too early when not going fast enough to really shift into the next higher gear.. But I am driving it just as I have since 1995..

I am open to thoughts on what it might be. I am also hoping someone can point me to a reputable shop to have it looked at and fixed.

I am in training for deployment and am not going to have time to work on it myself.
One day I will wake up and realize that my jeep is complete...one day, I just know it.

1st. Is it otherwise working properly?

Jingling noise could be lose shifter assembly.

Clunking could be clutch. Not looking at my FSM but I am sure some of the guys on here may know top of the head if the clutch can be adjusted, it may just be worn to the point its not allowing a full disengage/engage cycle. Common on older rigs and an easy fix if it is adjustable. Some of the hydraulic clutch setups are not easy to adjust.

    Jeep is running fine otherwise.

I had a bearing go out in the tranny a couple of years ago and the jingling sounds the same. Not jingling like washers bouncing on a bolt..jingling like little pieces of metal bouncing around inside the case.

Clutch was replaced at same time the tranny work was done since the tranny was out and it was the original clutch. It could need adjustment.

I am all ears if there is ability to adjust. I will craw under it in daylight tomorrow and see if I can find anything loose. I was thinking the clunking could be drive shaft if I somehow managed to screw up a u-joint. They are not old, so I am not holding out much hope of that.
