    Default Some Electrical advice

I had a bad alternator and now after I got a new one my Jeep will only run for 10min after a jump then die. Could my battery be fried? I just bought it 2months ago and would be pissed if that is the case!

i would get the alternator tested to make sure its charging correctly. Also check your cable connections for corrosion. Not trying to insult ya, but if a connection is made correctly, you can drain any type of battery.

That is what I am thinking, I am going to pull the alt and battery tomorrow and get them both checked. I will double check all the connections at the battery and down to the switch.

    someone took my answer.
"Captain, my religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to be always ready, no matter when it may overtake me. That is the way all men should live, and then all would be equally brave.”

Remember this as well. The battery is only there to provide the power to START the vehicle. Once that cycle of combustion and spinning is started, the alternator takes over the enitrety of the electrical generation of the vehicle. In my opinion, I would be looking at the connections, internal corrosion of cabling, or the alternator.

As a side question, are the sides of your battery flat, or have they started to bulge?

Had the alt and the battery checked. First place said alt was good and battery was bad. So I took the battery back to Sears and they charged it and tested it and said it was good. Got home, removed everything, cleaned every connection (used the old PRC119 trick) re hooked everything up and..... it ran and charged fine. I must have had a bad connection somewhere. Thanks all for the suggestions!

Quick update, the alternator was bad! wasn't putting out enough volts! The parts place even tried to say I installed it wrong........ They tried that until I let them know that the bearings were squealing like I had a cat in my belts.
