Check to make sure the wheels fit before you go through the hassle... Word on the street is that some 15 inch wheels annd up rubbing the calipers... It'd suck to go through all the work of finishing them and then not being able to use em...

I got these wheels and tires and want to salvage the wheels if I can for my JK. They are 15'' wheels and 15's are a hell of a lot cheaper than 18's.
I was thinking about maybe doing some kind of a spray on bed liner product on them to #1 make them durable and #2 make them dark gray or black.
my JK is rescue green and I think they might look pretty decent if I can do it right. Has anyone else done anything similar. Any advice or direction to source material would be helpful. Also, the tires will be for sale if anyone is interested. They are in very good condition with deep tread and no side wall rot. They are 31 x10.5

they will not fit unless you downsize rotors which is not recommended
DAMN IT!!!!! I didn't think of that. I still want to finish them though, if not for my rig then for the experience so I can do this when I find some that will fit. I guess I'll sale them as a package then after I finish them.

I bought 17 inch wheels specifically because the stock rubicon tires are being sold at tirerack for $95 each...

First - if you are going to finish them right you need to take the tires off.
Second - get a wire wheel and clean them up (get the rust off), this will also scuff for paint, use sand paper in areas the wire wheel won't get
Third - wipe down with acetone
Forth - If you want dark gray/black use Rustoleum Hammerite Black - I love this finish it sticks to rust and is very durable

For the money you will get for the 18's, your best bet would be to keep them as your winter wheels and tires... I drove this past winter on mine and they really do well in the snow and frozen roads and it doesn't seem like anyone wants to buy them (due to the cost of 18 inch tire replacement)
