Just put a new ignition in. Think they cost less than $50 - like maybe 35.

Lost my only key - thats what I did.

Some locksmiths can rekey the ignition if it doesn't have all the fancy stuff on it.

I will assume you have a '03 Rubi.

Starting way back there any dealer in the US can cut you a key. You do NOT need to tow it in. The problem you are facing is proving you are the owner of the auto. You need to dig out your current registration and lic info and title. Go to any dealer, tell them the story and they cut it while you wait. They may want to confirm with state or bank that you have loan, but that is fonecon stuff.

I stopped off at the PT field one summer day, was changing clothes in my Corvette, my running buddy shows up and I jump out of my car and slam door...forgot and left the engine running wife was out of town. I called the dealer where I bought the vette in another state, he said no sweat, where is the nearest cheby dealer, they will have key waiting for you when you get there.

NOTE this ONLY works if you have never changed out the ignition.

Two ways to get a new key: 1) bing in old and they dup 2) they pull vin and key info and using the magic number they cut key from that...

x THREE Been there done that!!!

    1) Looking at new cars... Kid locks self in a floor model... Dealer had to cut new key by VIN to get kid out...
    2) Shortly back from Iraq, my set of keys missing, wife locks new van running... Go to delearship to get new key cut by VIN.
    3) Picking up rental convertable... Slam jacket with key into trunk... Never having driven a convertable before, find it has no trunk release, duh!?!? Rental company cuts new key by VIN...

Grrrrrrrrr!!!! Just got to prove rightful ownership somehow...
