Don't know about the water sensor but try pulling the plugs and fuel pump and ignition fuses and try turning it over after letting sit

    How much water????

    From JK-Forum

Muddy water through the intake, into the engine
About two weeks ago at a local trail I went through a mud patch, it seemed that the muddy water splashed up against the bonnet, into the air intake, through the filter and made it's way into the motor.

The result, a coughing JK spluttering black smoke. It's been standing at the dealership for two weeks now, and it looks like Jeep is trying to find a way to deny a warranty claim. As of last weeks, 10 days after it went in they requested more information, which is making me really mad. Now it sounds like even once they get the repair order from whoever (est cost about $7200) it might take 2-3 weeks to repair!

So I guess trail rated, is not really trail rated!

    Trail Rated standard.

This. Although every time I have hydrolocked a motor I have changed the oil and filter as well. Run it for about a 100 miles and change oil/filter again. Do this about 3 times. Remember that along with the water that got sucked in also went all the dirt particles into the engine that gets everything before it is finally caught by the oil filter. But, no matter what within about 30k miles on both of them at least one of the main bearings went and they seized. My experience is once a motor is hydrolocked they are never the same and won't last long. I have HEARD stories of others that have had no problems after, just my experience is that they don't last.

Also, a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the gas tank will burn out any remaining water.

All you need to do is remove all spark plugs and turn the engine, that forces any water in the
cylinders out. Then change oil/oil filter/air filter. I don't believe there are any bent valves,
since the hydrolock occurs when the valves are fully close.Good Luck.

Why thank ya. I didn't know that. I have been crapping up my stuff for years I guess. I usually add some to almost every tank in my 4 wheeler. Helps it run in the water. Of course, i did worse stuff to my ATV than add a lil' rubbing alcohol to the tank.
