I've done a few, even have one in my garage I've been trying to sell (mini-hijack....sorry). I always hand-off this link to anyone considering any D44 work.

Is there a difference between rubicon 44 aand waggy 44 inner axles? Is it just length.

I have a guy that builds them and i was wondering why he would like tj rubi length inner compared to waggy. Is it a difference of the diff being left or right a little bit?

without being an ass i would highly recommend pulling the D30 and slinging the 44 under the jeep to check for clearances. if your just gonna go for the monster truck look with 8" of lift and 35's then go for it. if you want a rig that sits low, is well balanced, and doesnt beat itself to sh*t by components hitting on each other then take some time and lay everything out. when i built my YJ it came down to the truss on the front axle having to go on the bottom of the axle because i only had 2" of clearance under the oil pan and top of the diff at full comp. sat with 3" of lift and 38.5" rubber. theres a reason the average joe just doenst sling 1 tons under a jeep and go out. it takes a bit of planning, thought process, and sometimes an expensive learning curve. ive pulled my front 30 a few times now just planning and measuring for bump stops, steering, trackbar, brakes, shock mounts, and limit straps. it takes alot of time to setup everything to not interfere with each other and work properly.

It may be due to the length that he cuts the tubes to.
I'd ask for all the tech data to confirm the diff location as it relates to your existing axle.

Thanks guys. Here is an idea. Well broke in 4inch rubicon express leafs the xd type not the cheapies.1/2inch in shackle lift. On 35s. The bottom of round tube crossmember at front of frame is at 26 1/4 from the ground. She is in sua configuration. Using f250 shock towers and 31inch shocks. When i put the 5.2l in i had todo a 1inch body lift to clear gastank after 2-3inch stretch and we kept the motor as high as possible. She isnt crazy high. And not exactly super low. Bump stops can be added and shock towers can be cut off and moved around. I think i am gonna stick with my 1ton steering with chevy tre and dom links. Bump stops can always be added i guess . I know 60 would really be pushing it and the 44 will give me piece of mind and lockouts.

Can anyone tell me from bottom to top of diff how big it is. So i have an idea of actually how much bigger than my hp30 the 44 is.
