Default Headlights shut off while I'm Driving

    Specs 97 TJ

So I'm driving at night and all of a sudden my jeep decides it wants to go low light black ops on me. I cant see crap. then they come on,and back off repeatedly I pulled over and did the "Lets hit it to see if it works" shit they didnt turn off, so I checked all of the connections, all good. No fuses burnt out so there isn't a short that I can tell. What else could be the problem? Bad Switch? Thanks for you help

Are they stock headlights? Also, do you have a lot of other extra stuff added that could be sucking power from the electrical system?

A bunch of months ago, I had my radio cutting out, the lights on the radio would flicker and the lights on the dash would cut out. After replacing the battery with an Optima Yellow Top, I have not had the problem since.

    Also check your Dimmer Switch.

Be sure to check your grounds. Mine started doing the same thing a while back and it ended up being a loose ground.

I gotta a yellow top so IDK if thats it. I think it might be the switch cause umm i can pull it all the way out of its socket.... BUT My amber lights and interior lights stay on when this happens...

It's prob the headlight (dimmer) switch. On my 97, I can pull the switch out (to turn on headlights) but if I nudge the switch down just a hair, my headlights go out, but everything else is fine. I just haven't taken the time to fix it.

Buddy of mine has some kind of eye thing and he has to wear sunglasses at night, daytime he has to wear wrap arounds to keep out the light. I made a trip with him one time, he drives a corvette. We leave at 9 pm, get out of town, he takes off sunglasses, turns off headlights and we are FLYIN down back roads to Houston with NO lights on, unbelievable and un-nerving exp. I am rattled and he tells me this is normal for him. THEN he starts rattling off what billboards are saying and I am telling him I don't see ANY billboards at all, but he can.

His vision was perfect, just perfect in the dark.

I will have him give you a call...
