Default Need Jeep Advice for Jeep Camp

I just found out I got the leave today to go to Jeep Camp in the Black Hills this June, and since I didnt think I was going I spent some money and time on other things and now my budget is about 2K$ and my Jeep is pretty much stock. Its a 2010 Unlim with 285/75/17's and a budget boost 2" lift. I really want to go down there and have a fairly capable rig. How should I distribute the money around on the Jeep? Suspension, Gears, Winch, Lockers, Ect.? I just cant make my mind up on what to do. Thanks guys and gals.

Quadratec has winch mounts for stock bumpers...somebody posted the link in another thread. Believe they were pretty cheap.

Lockers...I heard the Electronic traction control on new jeeps was the same thing?

I can tell you from experiance TC on the JK is not close being locked. however there are several write ups on the net that explain it and how to "tune" the ESP or to completely deactivate it. I found a write up this morning on mounting a winch inside the bumber so I am gonna try and give it a go if my winch comes in by then.

I am also thinking about trimming the stock fenders down but cant figure out a good permanant way to mount a side marker once I loose the edge of the fender. Any ideas?

Skid plates/diff covers and a good recovery strap.

Since you're going to a 'Jeep Camp', there will be plenty of rigs on the trail with you, no need for a winch right now.

Stock JK's do great, with a 2" BB you'll do fine.

I ran into @4Fox in Moab last week, he joined us on the 'Hells Revenge' trail, and his 4 door JK did great! Just a 2" BB, he did scrape the skid a couple times, due to the wheelbase of the 4 door. But the JK worked great!

Protect the driveline and rockers with some good skids and sliders, add the winch and other stuff later.

Bring some of your extra cash with for any emergenices that may pop up.

    Most of all, Have Fun!

Thanks, this is gonna be my first big wheelin trip. I am all about the less is more (money in my pocket) approach. Loosing alot of money in the big D, and what I have left I am putting back into the Jeep and living like an 18 yo again for the most part

LOL no. No Rubicon, no stock lockers, need after market then. I had trimed JK fenders a friend gave me and I had a light that he gave me that took the oringinal bulb and cable yout turn it and locked. trimmin them is pretty easy, make sure you trace the line you want first, a good sharp knife will cut them. Then put some of the door trim guard stuff on them to cover up the edges. what ever you do get quality stuff, in the end youll be happier. If your gonna mount a winch on the stock bumper make sure you got a good aftermarket plate to mount it too. hopefully like 3/16 in steel.
