Default What can I do for cheap?

I have a 2003 Grand Cherokee Laredo that is 2 WD. Yeah I know, why would i buy a 2 WD jeep.... I have taken it off road many times when I was in Alaska and it did fine. I want to make it alil more trail ready with out spending a lot of money without having to change to anything like my drivetran ect.. So, what is the highest I can lift?

Trade it in for a 4wd model would be my first plan. Cheap and Jeep dont really go well together. you can go as high as you want but the taller you go the more your gonna spend.

sell it and get a 4x4. lol. jk...kinda. i honestly wouldnt put any money into making a 2wd jeep trailready. BUT if you are determined, go for it. 3 inches would be plenty for you. not like you're gonna be able to get anywhere that requires a higher lift than that anyway. haha.

Yeah i would love to trade it in for a 4WD, but money is the issue. I was told that if i went with a 4in lift i would run in to a drivetran issue.. that doing with a 2in or a 2.5in would be fine and i wouldnt have to change anything. is this true? its still my daily driver so i want to keep it stock for the most part but maybe put a small spacer lift, skid plates, brush gaurd. things like that.

I would not waste my money on lifts or other assorted goodies that do nothing to make it work better.

That said there are some things you can do to make it well BETTER:

Tires: BFG KM2's or GY MTR's in a size for your rig

Rear SELECTABLE rear locker. I am a fan of ARB.

Not much else you can do will improve its OR ability than these two, the rest you are just throwing money against a wall and hoping it sticks, knowing it won't...

I didn't even think of the stuff Don said. But I did just think about something. If you do some lift, skid type stuff to it, and plan on getting a 4wd GC later on, you may be able to swap the parts over later. Just a thought, I don't really know the mechanical differences between the two.

first of all, whatever youre planning on doing "cheap" will prolly mean youre going to end up redoing it later for twice the original cost. i would just do it quality once. secondly, ill trade you a nice DH mtn bike of approx equivalent value as said jeep. atleast then you can go down a waterfall without worrying about scrapping your geriatric cherokee all to poo. cheers!
