Default How to win one of these.......

    Like this!

Well, here's the carnage from the C4Cure.
    Seems the cross shaft broke,

    into 3 pieces:

This of course chewed up the pinion:

It also jammed the diff up enough to twist the output shaft off the T-case:

Build it, run it, break it, fix it, repeat :twisted

To add to the 'fun', the tie rod bent while I was winching the CJ up and out of the log crawl I broke on. Making the Jeep 'pigeon toe'd' while winching! I know someone got pics of the recovery, waiting for them to post them up on our local board.

Funny thing is the 'trophy', it's made from a ring and pinion!

And the pinion looks just like mine!

    Good Mojo??

Nice job. Does this justify better axles for you?

Nope. The M20 is a good axle, with two weak points.

1 Is the 2 piece axle shafts- I replaced them with Superior 1 piece

2 The tubes are thin, and tend to 'rotate' with a lot of torque-
I stitch welded the tubes, and trussed the housing.

The ring and pinion are beefier than a D44.

I should have used a hardened cross shaft, some lockers come with them, but my Aussie didn't.

I'm also running the stock 258 I6, and 33'' tires.

If I was running more HP or bigger tires, then I would go with bigger axles, probably some narrowed D60's.

Actually the drive shaft is fine (although the DS u joints are supposed to be the weak link!)

The output shaft of the T case sheared

I'd have preferred the drive shaft breaking! I have a spare one !
