Hey All,
In spite of the weather and all the scrambling around I did, I had a great time meeting a lot for the first time.Unfortunately I did not get to hang with everyone I wanted to oh well next time. Weather really messed us up. But please everyone post it but also send AAR`s ,pics and vids also to me at [email protected]
I will try to get it all combined on a disc... and use AAR`s to improve the next event...

and a big thank you to all who helped out, even a little bit....

Had a blast. This was my first organized event as well so I don't really have anything to compare it to. My thanks to all those who put it together, I know there was a TON of unappreciated behind the scenes work to pull this off!!! You all did an AWESOME job!!

I also want to thank everyone who jumped in to help me get my CJ fixed on the trail (twice!). I saw a lot of team work on the trail that I don't think you would see in other clubs. People loaned tools, parts and time with no hesitation or questions asked.

My comments (some are repeats):

1) Location was great for me, close to home (2 hours) and the trails were fun (I only made it through one; first of the CJ casualties).
2) The "land use" fee wasn't too bad for me because I was by myself. I can see it being steep for a family of four at $120. Maybe we could negotiate a per vehicle fee.
3) Locking the gate was a major issue. Besides the inconvenience, what if someone had a major medical issue? I don't like being "locked in" like a 12 year old.
4) Can't comment on the food 'cause I missed the dinner while I was turning wrenches on the broke CJ

5) How about a swap meet at the next event?
6) Can we have a fall/winter camp MJ too? Please?

i posted in another thread, but i agree 100% with Erik, i had fun. some ironing out and it would have been amazing.

AAR:

So im just gonna ask questions to make everyone think.
1) Think of a tactical vehicle movement thru unknown territory, we put a scout vehicle at the lead to look for anything dangerous and to let the rest of the convoy know whether the route is passable. Thus why dont we put a 2 vehicle scout team in the lead to work the trail seeing if it is possible and to cover each other with recovery issues and spotting. If the trail presents problems for the guide team (2 vehicle) then they can relay back to the rest of the element that can then pick a different route.

( Trail guide/scout ) ( 2nd scout/recovery) -------------------------------------------- (trail guide) (jeepers) (jeepers) (jeepers) (jeepers) (tail gunner).

This gives the scout team enough time to catch back up to the rest of the element and assume the lead for the rest of the element. Essentially rotating leads.

I'll let everyoen chew on that for a bit.

like the idea of AARs and striving to improve the next one but wanted to start with "thanks"

we did Camp MJ East Coast 2010 at RC and also had a great time -- of the two (if we can sort through reducing the cost, gate control, and misc that has been addressed in other posts), I would favor Gore/Cove Campground -- put the entire crew in one area and we would be set...

I would also like to thank the New Jersey crew for amazing hospitality and outright help -- food, drink, massive fire, jeepin stories/expertise, air, etc --- you guys and gals rock!

looking forward to Camp MJ East Coast 2012 (or the 2011 "Fall Event") -- ready to help
