I would think the same way they repair canvas, tents, tarps and such. Find a simalar piece of material that is larger than the rip and sew it on and treat with water proffing?
Ok here in PA we got about 3" of rain in a 4 hr period the other day. All while I was out working. WHen I came home my rain cover was about bowed down to the front seats. SO I TRY to gently push up on it to releave some water and I hear RIIIIIIPPPPPP. Now it has a few pin holes from use and a new rip up the left side. I checked out a replacement, it is a vdp full cover for no doors I got it 2-3 years back for 89.00. Now they seems to run in the 120.00 range.
So I am wondering if there may be some sort of iron on seam/rip repair thay someone would know of. Maybe in the marine arena? I know I could basicly get some backing material and sew it up then maybe seal it with some shoe goo( or something similar) but I was wondering if anyone had a better way?
Thanks
Irish

A number of years back, when I had the Boy Scout Troop, one of the kids tore one of our tents. I took it to a place in our town that worked on the large tarps that truckers use to cover big loads. They said no problem. Fixed it right up. They had the material and the bigger sewing machines to sew the heavier fabric. Look in the yellow pages for tarp repair or such.
thats a great idea I think I'll have to dig a bit to find a shop that does that but I'll look thanks alot for the ideas
