Default To 360 or not to 360?

Stumbled on a 360 in a 86 FSJ today while searching for axle parts, seems like it would be a fairly straight forward swap from what I know and what I've seen in the interweb. But, does anyone here have first hand hands on knowledge of swapping a 360 into a CJ with a 258. If I'm not mistaken my bell housing will work, would need to have my flywheel rebalanced and some minor mods to the frame motor mount brackets, move fuel line from pass side to drivers and fire it up. Any thing major I'm missing?

Flywheels are specific to the engine for 258,304,360,401, if the fsj has one then us the one for the 360-they are balanced.
The bell housings I believe all swap out for the amcs, you should not use the t4 tranny. you need to research what tranny you want to use, the smaller ones wont hold up to the v8(i only read this no first hand knowledge ).
Motor mounts for the 360 vs 258 one you can use, the other will not work, I bought a set from MORE.
Wiring is pretty straight forward, minor differences, pending on year.

CJ5 will have some drive line issues, mine is very steep and only like 13" from yoke to yoke ( TF727/AMC360) maybe the manual shift is shorter allowing better angles.

BCS613 has a 304 with ford tranny and is looking ok I think the TF727 is my problem.

I will keep my T18a/D300 if I end up doing the swap. Didn't look real close but I'm sure the FSJ was an auto, so it won't have the flywheel. After some research the 360 and 258 have the same specs as far as Dia bolt holes, only real difference is the balancing. Motor mounts are too easy.

I know the Ax-15 is a direct bolt to the 304 I am wondering if it is on the 360

Yes It is, that means that they all have the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the 258 as well, in theory I should be able to just drop it in, turn key and go

What I am worried about with the 304 is power steering. With my 258 the ps pump is attached to the block and I don't remember seeing one on the CJ-5.....

What year is your CJ5, my 69 didn't have power steering but when I put the 350 in it I converted it to PS from a 72 CJ7 IIRC, used column to TRE's and worked out just fine

I had problems with the power steering lines, think the pressure line called for on the 258 wasn't quite right with the v8 although the fittings were the same, I had to bend the metal ends to fit correctly.
with the auto tranny the kick-down linkage would not fit between the block and fire wall, and throttle cable were different.
