Mesabi Mountain Trail

As some of you know, I have had the pleasure of helping out the 'Northern MN Jeepers' over the past year, working on the state of MN's first GIA (Grant In Aid) trail devoted strictly to OHV's. (No ATV's or Motorcycles-just 4x4's!!)

The NMJ are hoping the trail will be open this summer!

Take a look at the pics, and I think you'll agree, this trail is going to awesome! It's not for the faint of heart, that's for sure!

Russell, who is a member here (but doesn't post very often) is a member of the NMJ, you'll see his old XJ in the pics, as well as both of my rigs.

Those are the small ones! 4" lift, 33" tires and at least one locker would be a minimum for running the MMT! And for sure, another rig or 3, and a winch is definitely a good idea!

If you get up this way, give a holler!! There's at least a dozen MJ members in MN now, and we will make sure your trip gets in some wheeling!!

Some how I'm gonna try to make Northern MN part of my route to Southern AZ, I'm trying to get out of GA around the 1st week of Oct. This trip back home I definitely want to try to hit either Gilbert or MMT, I've been lurking on MN-Jeep thread for quite some time now, can't wait till it's open.

Me too!! The trail is pretty much done, some more clearing, and filling in of low spots (if it's to 'wet' the DNR will close the trail until it's 'dry' )

Biggest hurdle right now, is getting the parking lot in. They had a change in the trail head, and moved the parking lot.

On National Trails Day (this Sat, June 4th!) We are starting on the perimeter fence for the IROHV park, it will add another 3500 acres to the park!!

The park is now about 1200 acres, w/36 miles of trails.

It's going to be a blast! Make sure you have good armor and some skids. (unless you don't mind body damage! LOL!!)

I know I'll be hitting it once it's opened, probably with the NSW crew, I'll let ya know.

I'm going to start making some armor this weekend.... Might be a while before I am ready for this trail.

Clearly I'll need another ride to see this one... The Grand Cherokee will not see this place until at least 2018... if ever...

Well, get your chainsaw cleaned and sharpened, and you'll get to see it tomorrow!!

rsq41, my son Ty and myself went to the IROHV park today, for national trails day, and started working on the Virginia Expansion to the park, adding 3500 acres to the park!!

MJ had a good showing!

So we had 4 MJ guys, and quite a few Military, but the rest were either buggy or Yota guys.....no Jeeps!
