    Default new extended flares

got my 7in flares from the fed X today, cant wait to get them on. Should help keep the windshield clean LOL the 12.5 in wide tires like to throw alot of stuff up when turning. Plus I was getting a little rub on the trail last time, now the tire should go up inside the flare.

need to paint them I was thinking that fusion by krylon, any suggestions?

These are the $170 6 piece set from rugged ridge

I had a set on my TJ before I went to my flat fenders. They were durable and took a beating pretty well. IMO, don't spend your money/time painting them. The first time you rub them against something and the paint flakes/chips, you will be unhappy about how the flares will look.

Exactly. No matter how hard you try, you will end up with body damage sooner or later. I do like how Saharas look with everything painted to match, but I think you will be unhappy if the paint starts to chip/crack.

the Krlyon fusion paint i used on my ZJ body cladding has yet to chip, and im pretty rough on it. The specialty paint used for plastic has a different chemical reaction that bonds to the surface, as opposed to rattlecan on metal.

The only prep-work I did for my ZJ panels was to scuff the existing paint with a 220 grit sand paper, shoot it with a very fine coat of primer and then started laying on coats of the Fusion paint. Don't think that you'll be able to color match with the fusion paint though, its pretty limited on colors.

I have those same flares. I have had issues with mud covering the side windows and mirrors in the past, so getting these flares was high on my list. I have had no problems with mud on the mirrors and very little on the windows as well. You still get some, but not bad.

Paint them.....WHY? Real jeeps are built not bought! I think they look tougher black. 'Sides, it makes your jeep look like it is built, or at least on its way!

    Just my 2 cents worth!

Really it was when I lived in Seattle and it was from the wet roads. It would get SO bad you couldn't see out the windows to change lanes, turn, backup, etc. I don't mind the mud on the jeep, but when it hinders safe driving.......

It rained so much that it was a constant problem. But not with the right flares.
