Got that right. I used the spray on crap on my stock running boards last year. Can't tell anymore. Would never consider it for the inside. Let alone the roll on crap....If it is Sold at Pep-Boys then you've been Manny, Moed and Jacked!!!!!

When I bought my new 2003 truck I went straight from the dealer to Linex and had it sprayed. It's good and thick, and I haven't had to touch it yet. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Also have it on the interior of my CJ7, great stuff!

I used Duplicolor a couple of times, and it works OK.
Not as rugged as Herculiner, but goes on easier and doesn't have the granuals of rubber it in.
Flat black, but doesn't have the rough texture Herculiner has.

Duplicolor is VERY sensitive to surface preparation.
If you don't scuff and clean the intended surface, don't expect it to stay attached.
I recommend sand blasting, then wash down with TSP or a good Xylene wash before you try to get it to stick.

I've had Duplicolor on my FSJ for about 4 years now, and where I didn't scuff the chrome well enough, or where there was dirt settled on the roof, the Duplicolor didn't stick, but it did a good job everywhere that was properly prepared.
    -------------------------------------

    For the 'DIY' bunch,

The first thing you should get is a cheap Siphon type sand blasting gun.
This will let you sand blast away rust, clean cracks and body seams, and get into those really tight spots.

You can also use to to scuff up the existing pain so the liner has something to stick to.
Sand blast the slick finish off the pain, or use a 'Scotch Bright' pad.
180 Grit sandpaper will work too, but it's a LOT of work to do it by hand!
The sand blaster is SO much faster and gets into corners easier!
Be sure to wash EVERYTHING with a bucket or two of TSP and lot's of clean water before you proceed!

The get your self a gallon of Xylene thinner.
Spray the entire surface to be coated down with the Xylene.
It removes sand blasting dust, oil, grease, wax, silicone and all the other stuff that will keep your bed liner form sticking like it should.
I use the $20 sand blasting gun to spray it on and it works very good.

You don't read much about it, but the folks at Herculiner, DuraBack, ect. all recommend the same Sherwin Willams primer.
It's cheap and flows through the same spray gun you did the sand blasting with.
    Dries in about an hour.

Then I mix/spray the Herculiner or Durabak with the same sand blaster gun.
If it's a warm summer day with a lot of humidity (there aren't any other kind around here!) the first coat is often dry enough for the second coat by the time I make the lap around the inside of the Jeep so I really don't have to stop for the first three layers.

If you do have to stop (Slow drying becuse of cold or low humidity) be sure to siphon clean the gun between coats!
This is as simple as moving the siphon hose form the Herculiner to the Xylene can and blowing Xylene through the gun for a little bit...

Herculiner is about $75 a gallon at Wally-World,
DuraBak is about double that when you can find it discounted somewhere, but lasts longer...

Don't forget to use a UV filter on top of both products, it will keep them from fading as quickly.
