    Default Engine Cooling Ideas needed.

After attaching my 10k winch to the front of my Grand, I've begun to run at a much higher temp than normal. My only option to prevent over heating is to run my defrosters.

My plan of attack currently is to do the obvious, flush and fill, new thermostat set at a lower temperature, dump the clutch fan and go with a flex fan. But other than that My brain is running out of ideas.

Im thinking about the hood vents, or venting my front fenders just to let more hot air out. I know that air flow is my problem based on where the winch sits.

I'd spend a little moolah on a very high cfm rate electric and vent the hood Bro. I have seen old Chrysler Le Baron Turbo vents on Cherokees and Grands before and they come out very nice. Another option is the many different aftermarket manufacturerers out there. Gen-Right would be my personal recommendation if you don't like the Le Baron vents.

What i did to overcome overheating is a 3 core aluminum radiator that holds 1/2 a gal. more fluid, and that dropped the temp about 15 deg.

Also try running some Redline Water Wetter if you aren't already running it.

I was starting to run hot with all the stuff for my oba and winch taking up room under my hood so I added the genright vents and had a noticeable difference in engine temp. Plus drinking beer and cutting sheet metal at midnight is always fun.

Like has already been said, there are a few options. From my personal experience, I had the most success with a Griffin aluminum radiator, Purple Ice, lower thermostat and an electric fan.

Is mounting your winch lower an option?

I wish I could mount it lower, The flush and fill I did last night helped out quite a bit. There is something to be said about maintenance. But I am going to do some more cutting and other goodies to keep it cooler on the trails.

Dude go Ol' Sckool on it.
You got a Machette, make your own vents.

Just for price wise, I would see if the holes needed for both the Gen-Right, and the Le Baron Vents are the same size. That way you can pull the Le Baron ones from a Junk Yard, and if they don't look good your not out too much. And if they do look good, than you save the cost of the Gen-Right stuff.
I would second the Fan suggestions.

I use one similar. Mines a S blade out of a lincoln 5500 cfm with a dual speed for ac. If you are having problems with the temp I would probly try for something above 4000 cfm to be safe or a push pull 2 fam set up. Make sure it has the 2 stage(speed) fan for ac if you have it. And if you do ANY water crossings add a kill switch to shut off your ele fan durring the crossing so the drag from the water doesn't hurt the fan.

One thing you may want to double check before adding upgrades is to check how your fan shroud is. If it has loosened up and moved away from the rad so then you may be sucking air around the rad instead of through it causing some of the over heating
