    Default T-Max 6500 Winch

Anyone have any experience with T-Max winches? I found a local dealer who sells refurbed T-Max's for right around 300 bucks. Besides the price being great, I just don't know much about them.

I dunno much about the T-Max, but what I know is the that you should bet a winch that is rates at twice your vehicle weight, that put most jeepers in the 8K to 9k range. Your best bet is to weight your Jeep in full trail trim and double that number, then round up to the next winch size. This is just a guideline.

I am a T-max dealer/installer. Myself and Damien (who went into business with me) have been using them for a combined 10+ years with zero issues. I know I have personally used mine at -45* and did not have any issues. IMO they are better built than a lot of the other brands, but are still priced in the affordable range.

The winch that you are asking about, if it is the EW-6500 has the following:
    - 6500 lb rated single line pull
    - 5.5 hp/12v series wound motor
    - 94' of 9.32" galvanized aircraft cable

Brand new, I sell those for $575 with suggested retial being $825. Both prices are before shipping.

What has already been stated is a very good rule of thumb and one that I follow with m own rig. Get a winch that is rated (single line pull) for twice your vehicle's weight. The reason being is that when you are stuck, whether in deep mud, slit or trying to get over something, there are more forces working against the winch than just the weight of your vehicle. Even though that refurbed T-max you are looking at is a good price, if you only get a year or two out of it because of over working it, you haven't really saved any money. As an example, I am running a 10,000 lb winch on my Jeep. I have had it for over 4 years and never had an issue.

Yea, I just got into Jeepin a little over a year or so a go when I got off AD, so I don't know much about winches. Thanks guys, he does have other winches which are rated higher, so I'll prolly end up with one of those.

What other deals does he have. Possibly some of us can benefit as well...

After talking to him some more about them, he sells them on ebay. I'm going back into there today and I'll find out what the name he is selling them under. He sells the 9000, brand new with everything, for around 550 with 60 dollar shipping anywhere in the cont. US. I'll be picking that one up!
