Do you have a sport cage? If so you can build off of it. I just took out the tuffy because it will not fit with a sport cage and will be building one when I get the sport cage finished. I'll post pictures when I get it done.
Has anyone made their own overhead consle? I like the one that tuffy makes, but i dont have the funds to drop 200 on it. I thought I might be able to save a few bones if i make one myself. Just wondering if anyone has done this themselves or if yall had any ideas/suggestions. Thanks

I'll sell you my Tuffy for $125. I am getting ready to finish off my cage and will have to take it out anyway. PM me if you're interested.

when I was at NTC (Ft Irwin, CA) we used an ammo can to stow a car stereo, and then mounted the ammo can where ever you want. we used the window frame up toward the center piller and self tapping screws. This made it water and sand proof when you closed the lid (plus it was hidden from visiting units) cant have an OC jamming to Ozzy in front of a training unit lol.
depends on how heavy of things you want to store.
I had to get rid of my OEM speaker pods when I went to my fiberglass half-cab. I took some sheetmetal and made a plate that I then self-tapped into my overhead bars. I then took my OEM dome light pods and cut holes for them and then put my speakers in too. Works really well and makes my domes lights actually usable.
What kind of half cab is it? I really liked it when I saw it and meant to ask you.
I have the Tuffy 2 compartment overhead for my TJ. When I built my cage I too had to figure something out to make it work. Now I know Tuffy also has the one compartment console but don't know what it will fit.
Here is a picture of it shortend and painted.
In the Jeep.
I shortend the console by cutting the end that mounts to the windshield. This makes it a PAIN to mount that one compartment but it works. The reasons for the Tuffy over other makes was that I could close the compartment and lock my stereo and CB away from prying eyes and sticky fingers. Now that I don't DD my Jeep it isn't such a big deal. Up here in the PNW where the trails can get a little tippy I also like my Tuffy because it keeps everything tucked away. A lot of people have been injuried or killed due to head injuries from banging their head on a CB that was hanging down when they roll.
Now as has all ready suggested if you have a sport cage you can weld a plate between the spreaders and mount your CB to that.
