    Default wanted axle advice

I know this topic can open a can of worms but here it goes.

98 tj getting a brute kit put on. staying with low cog highline kit 35-36" tires on my ome lift.

my overall goal is to make a reliable wheeler that can do time on the pavement.

    my current delema is axles.

I'm freaking stuck on what to use I thought originally hp 60 front and rear with arb's the rear is np but dam doing up a build for a front is a pita. I'm going for a hi clearance build with raised brackets and either hi steer or at least a flip on the tie rod.

after digging for days thru all the axle makers I'm starting to lean twards a hp 9 out back and a hp 44 up front

I have checked currie dyna solid hi 9 dts dtw. any other reliable makers out there?

and any pit falls someone can steer me past before I jack this up?
also looking at 5x5.5 lug with hubs on a vanco brake system if anyone has insight send it my way please

    Thanks

well i would have to say if you are gonna run around a 35" tire then the 44 and 9 combo would be great and if you wanted to save some money on it you could find some from an old ford.

If your not going tbigger than 35s then as said the 9" D44 Combo would be nice. But for no larger than 35s an 8.8/D30 would be good. Of course since no one ever stops go with a pair of D60s and be done

I've heard more than once that the Currie 9's aren't real 9's... kind of the same way you hear rubi 44's aren't true 44's. For the price of a currie 9, you could probably get your whole project done. Spidertrax is another option... there's a 3rd member and housing for sale in the FS section of the board now. When I was searching 9's for my previous jeep I had real good luck checking with the bronco forums. They came stock with a 44 front & 9 rear. Every now and then you'll come across some that are already set up over on pirate. There was also a guy I found on ebay that could set up 9's for any application, to include gears axles, lockers, spring perches, width and brakes.

What ever you go with, post a build thread up... I'll be doing this within the next year.

Check out my thread in the classifieds. I have been running my HP D44/9" combo for over 3 years with no issues. I am getting ready to go to 60s, but only because I am getting ready for my Top Truck Challange 2009 entry.

My axles are full-width, locked, geared and ready to go.

If I ever do need to swap axles then that would be the combo that I go for. I do believe that there is a HI9 out there some where as well.http://www.truehi9.com/index.html try these guys.

well nice thing with the Prorock 60's is you can custimize them in any way you see fit. Shafts, widths, shave, full width, you can make ANYTHING BUT you are looking at $20,000 in axles for a pair. I would say look into the D44/9" combo listed above for sale
