I tried one of the exhaust tape hole fix tapes before, and it didn't work the way I had expected. Don't know about the stuff you are talking about.
Anyone ever done this? or does it actually work? I just read that it reduces engine compartment temp by 50% while increasing MPG. I'm going to wrap my exhaust manifold today and see if it works anyway. Its only like $20 and it'll give me something to do on my jeep!

I have been using header wrap for years on my chopper and on various other vehicles. It does contain the heat and help to speed exhaust gasses out in doing so. It WILL also reduce the temperature under the hood, but be aware that the temp downstream of the wrap in the exhaust system will rise somewhat.
Hope this helps to answer your question.

I used header wrap on my exhaust manifold, uppipe, and front half of the down pipe on my subaru.... it worked great for decreasing engine compartment temps.
cool thanks guys! just bought the wrap. gonna put in on. you guys know how hot it gets in the engine compartment. can't wait to see the results.

I used to have an electronic temp gauge and ran the sensor under my hood... just duct taped the wire to the inside of the hood. Allowed me to drive around and see the temp. I haven't had it for years though.
Keep in mine that wrap will hold moisture in. If you get it wet you will keep that water on the header. Some won't used it because it reduces the life of your header due to rust.
If you got money to burn, get your headers coated in ceramic. It'll do the same thing but won't hold in moisture. Jet-Hot is one of the biggest names that I know of in ceramic coatings.

I have wraped my exhaust pushing the heat from my engine for many years. Does work to reduse he heat most feel on the legs and Butt. Doesn't really do my for the MPG, that goes back to Skinny pedal throttle and maintenance.
