Default Built: TJ No weld cargo basket and body mounts

Hello to all of my fellow cash strapped jeepers! (and others who are curious!) I didn't have it in my budget to drop ~$1000 on a cargo basket and a rail system for my TJ, Plus I always enjoy the satisfaction of making my own products, so I set out to make my own. I don't know how to weld, so it was going to be tricky. I bought ~$36 in 12x 10 ft 3/4in galvanized conduit, ~$12 in conduit fasteners, $5 in 1/4in nutserts, and ~$20 in nuts/bolts, Grand total for materials:$73. I also bought a conduit bender for $40, and Since this was my first I had no clue what parts I really needed, so i had a lot of unnecessary expenditures.

    Here's pics:

This is the cargo basket completed. My only regret is that I didnt use self tapping screws for the bottom cross bars. Basically I took 4 pieces of conduit, bent back to back 90 degree angles, coupled them with a coupler to make the frame. then i cut 5X cross brackets, and used the scraps for vertical supports. They mount by four conduit hangers (Bolt tightened)

Here it is attached to my jeep with lights installed. As you can see I have a "hatchback" style soft top, so I wanted the frame to mock the angles. (I think it ended up being a (IIRC) 20 degree bend. I used three nutserts on the back, and conduit Hangers (that look like the bottom part of a 5) up front. To connect them to the cross bars, i used 90 degree service joints (They have a little part that comes off so you can see inside).

Since my jeep could barely fit in the garage, (and the basket in Nebraska wind would slow me down big time) I added what I've come to call a Buggout bar. Two bars that run from back to front and have two Quickfist Clamps. They also mount using conduit bolt tightened hangers.

    Oh AND I added lights....

Added 4 up front, and two in the rear (hooked up to my reverse lights) The conduit helped keep it looking clean, by running the wires internally.

Just need it to warm up so I can paint it!

Who needs water boarding? Just stick the perps in a room with TC, and tape their eyes open while he surfs the net! LOL

thanks everyone! Feel free to make your own, that's why I posted. I'm actually really happy with my "buggout bars" alone.
